Dr. Suresh Shinde, an outstanding student of Sainik School, Jamnagar, completed his MBBS in 1983, graduating from Government Medical College, Miraj. He then did a one-year Internship at Civil Hospital, Satara. During his professional service career, Dr. Shinde worked at various levels, which include serving as Medical Officer with the MMHS for 15 years from 1985 to 2001 with the Civil Hospital in Satara.
Dr. Shinde completed his Postgraduation (MD) in Medicine in 1995 from the prestigious Grant Medical College, Mumbai, and has been a practising Physician since 1997. Currently he is the Managing Director of Satara Hospital and Research Center, as well as of the Satara Diagnostic Centre & Multispeciality Hospital. Under his able leadership and guidance, both these units have received ISO 9001:2008 Certification.
These hospitals have Casualty Wards, Medical ICUs, Surgical ICUs, General Wards, Private Rooms as well as Deluxe Rooms to cater to all sections of society. They also have tie-ups with organisations such as LIC, BSNL, COOPER, etc. and also provide services to patients of ESIS, MPKAY, MDINDIA Healthcare Services (TPA) and others. The MAI Health Card was introduced, for the benefit of the needy and economically backward sections of society. Periodic Camps are organised in rural areas where the patients get the advantage of Health check-ups and Medical Service at subsidised rates.
The two hospitals have a well-equipped Cath Lab, Operation Theatres, and the latest equipment, backed by a team of able Consultants and in-house Doctors. Satara Hospital & Research Center and Satara Diagnostic Centre provide services in Angiography, Angioplasty, MRI, CT Scan, Mammography, etc. The Medical ICUs have the latest equipment and modern infrastructure.
Dr. Shinde successfully established the first Dialysis Unit in Satara. Before this unit was started, patients from this area had to go to Pune, Mumbai or Kolhapur to be treated. The Dialysis Unit has qualified Technical Staff and caters to at least 15 patients per day round the clock, 365 days a year. The additional advantage is the 24-Hour ICU Back-up as well as availability of Ambulatory Services for the convenience of patients.
Complex surgical procedures are now being performed in Satara city as the two Hospitals have well-established and technologically advanced equipment. Well-equipped Surgical ICUs with the latest equipment are an added advantage.
For his contribution to social causes, Dr. Shinde has received various awards, including a Special Award for Social Service from Marali Sakhar Karkhana in 1998. He also received a Vishesh Puraskar Award from Rajeshwar Yuvak Bank in 2005.
Dr. Shinde organised a State Conference of Physicians - MAPICON - in the year 2010. Under his leadership and guidance, Satara Hospital & Research Center as well as Satara Diagnostic Centre & Multispeciality Hospital sponsored the event GPCON-2014, an Annual Conference for all Practising General Physicians of Satara District.
